Knocked over Hexed, like I've said it was fun urban fantasy. I don't think the books are ever going to rise above that level, but that's fine, they're an enjoyable light read. I started Tigana by Guy Gavriel Kay today and early days it's very well written, he can really create a setting, I remember that from the other Kay book (A Song for Arbonne) that I read.

Finished Whispers Underground, not as good as Moon.
Now I'm at a loss to what to read until August which has Lawrence's King of Thorns and Asher's Zero Point waiting for me. I'm considering reading Hulicks Sworn in Steel but that means having to reread his first book as my memory is so shoddy. I remember Tigana being a solid good read for me but not as great as others seem to rate it. |

I remember feeling the same about Tigana; worth a read, but not as good as Kay's other stuff.
I'm still reading Deadhouse Gates and am happy to report that I'm getting through more than 10 pages a day now. |

I'm pretty sure Hulick said the publishing date was a mistake as he hadn't yet handed the manuscript in. I must ask a mate at work about the Asher, I've never read him (I'm not sci-fi guy I'm actually quite enjoying Tigana. I can see that it influenced Lynch's Camorr and Daniel Abraham's The Dagger and the Coin. I could be totally wrong, but it does look that way. |

Just under 18.5, actually. I know, I'm a beast.

They have it as being released June 5th but temporarily out of stock and there's even a used copy for $400......wtf!! I decided to take advantage of the system again and got another free book to try Pathfinder Tales: Death's Heretic by James L. Sutter. Came out last year and got good reviews. Giving it a shot as the Pathfinder world is being made into a mmorpg. |

Yes, Doug had a conversation on Twitter with Anne Lyle about this.

I finished Tigana, it had some good parts and the world building was excellent. I liked some of the characters, but it could have been made a whole lot better if someone had edited it judiciously and cut out about 200 unnecessary pages. Started Whispers Underground, and Aaronovitch is back in form. I don't know why, but Molly makes me giggle nearly every time she's mentioned. Also glad to see Lesley back in a major way.

Will be interested to see what you think of the last 3rd of Whispers.
Gave up on Death's Heretic . The writing its self is pretty good but at the 33% mark the story and characters just hadn't grabbed me. Moving on to the Mira Grant short. |
